Featured on Vogue.fr, Roxette Arisa and Joe’s wedding at Tonnara di Scopello is a visual tale of myth, identity, and timeless beauty, captured on Super8 film by Studio D’Essai. In this corner of Sicily suspended between sea and history, the former figure skater and YouTube star brought to life a dream woven from salt, sunlight, and love. The place wasn’t chosen at random: while sailing the Mediterranean, Roxette snapped a photo of Joe floating in front of the ancient tuna factory—unaware it would one day be where they’d exchange their vows.
Every element of the wedding embodied the mermaidcore aesthetic. Roxette wore two custom gowns by London designer Di Petsa: a white one for the ceremony, and a black corset look for the after-party, featuring draped silks, pearls, and clear quartz. Joe wore a modern, double-breasted tuxedo by Off-White—a perfect blend of heritage and individuality.
The event offered guests a dreamlike experience: floral designs inspired by coastal asymmetry, hand-woven pearls and seashells by Intrecci di Fiori e d’Arte, live harp and violin at the ceremony, a seaside dinner by Natale Giunta, and an after-party in a private cave where DJ YaYa Visconti played until dawn.
Studio D’Essai chose Super8 film to tell this story—not for nostalgia, but to embrace the tangible texture of memory. Grain, light flickers, and imperfect beauty frame each moment as a visual poem. The decision to use Super8 was emotional, not aesthetic. It was a way to preserve the ephemeral—without freezing it.
